August 13, 2019
Radius provided 100Mbps dual stack (IPV4 and IPV6) connectivity during the Philippine Network Operators’ Group (PhNOG) conference last July 17 and the coinciding Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI)’s High Performance Computing and Networking event last July 15-16, at I’M Hotel in Makati City.
The conference recollected Philippine Internet’s 25th Anniversary and was graced by one of the fathers of Philippine Internet, Mr. Benjie Tan, who made the country’s first connection to the Internet the evening before the big announcement on March 29, 1994.
The conference also addressed various issues in the Philippine internet landscape, including security, policies, infrastructure, internet exchanges, DNS abuse, and BGP collectors. A gathering of Women of ICT was also highlighted, with a briefing talk on Advancing Women in the Digital Age.
Various notable personnel attended the event, including the Chair of APRICOT (Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies), Mr. Philip Smith. Big names in the Philippine telco industry also joined the event, as well as partners and representatives from CATV operators, media, academe, and government.
ASTI’s event however focused on the analysis of large sets of data and processing of intensive simulations leading to remarkable breakthroughs in the fields of weather monitoring, disaster management, bioinformatics, genomics, marine science, agricultural research, chemistry and many others.
This is the 3rd year that Radius supported PhNOG, and it will continue to do so in the coming years. Radius will continue its efforts to enhance its network to cater to advanced communication needs of its partners and clients.
